A high performing team is not a chance
event. It requires skill at the personal and team
level for a team to operate at its best. Research
has identified the following key skills and characteristics
associated with highly effective teams:
Clear goals
Clear roles
Leadership style appropriate to the
team’s needs
Active and open communication and
feedback
Clear planning and decision making
processes
Valuing individual differences
Managing of conflict
We work closely with the leaders of
teams and the team members in learning about themselves,
each other, and the practice of effective team behaviors.
Our team development services typically cover the
following dimensions:
1.
Self and Member Insight
Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and other
instruments, members gain insight into their own personalities
as well as the collective team profile. With this
insight, differences can be valued and commitments made
for more effective communication and decision making.
2. Assessment of
Current Team Functioning Through
interviews, focus groups, and assessment instruments,
a baseline measurement is established which represents
the collective views, needs, and expectations of the
team members.
3.
Development of Shared Vision In
working with the team, using facilitated exercises and
dialogue, the team develops a shared vision of the team’s
purpose and potential. Attention is paid deliberately
to the team characteristics that are considered the
least developed.
4.
Development of Roadmap for Ongoing Progress Specific action plans and structures
are clearly defined for the team’s ongoing learning,
skill development and collaboration. Team and
individual coaching is often provided to ensure results.
